​Amfax manufacture a wide range of wiring harness solutions in a variety of styles and finishes. These wiring harnesses, or looms as they are often called, can be constructed using heat-shrink, conduit tube, braid, tape, tie-wraps or lacing cord. Ruggedised cable manufacture is one of our major strengths with temperature extremes, water ingress and mechanical endurance all factored into our design and manufacturing processes. Because of our attention to quality, our wiring harnesses find applications in equipment and aircraft operating in the harshest of environments.

Test rack wiring is critical to ensure system measurement integrity

The way your system instrumentation is wired together is one of the most critical elements in the design of your test system. Keeping cable lengths to a minumum is crucial for reducing noise and crosstalk on your signals. Quite often wiring will make the difference between meeting the design spec and not.

We know how to build solutions that take account of this vital aspect of the design. If the design requires it, we will produce custom PCB's to provide excellent signal connectivity whilst providing easy future maintenance. 
We use shielded cables and take account of cable positioning. Running mains carrying cables next to signal wires can lead to serious noise pick-up, so our designs are optimised to reduce this potential problem. We make sure that the cables are routed separately throughout your tester. Each of the major cables are labelled to identify the signal and to enable ease of system maintenance .

Ruggedised cables, harnesses, assemblies & sacrificial looms

When reliability and critical wiring is important to you, we design and build cables and assemblies using the "Raychem Lay" method. This method of manufacture enables us to produce wiring that is relatively stress free when in use. This method involves layering wires circumferentially, for example 1 inner, 5 helically wound over at a fairly easy pitch, followed by a  thin contra-wound kevlar tape, then the next layer contra-wound so it does not fall into the "interstices".  each layer has to be fully populated according to a predefined table. 

To help maintain the reliability of your test systems, we also produce sacrificial looms. These looms are designed to be easily and quickly replaced meaning that down time and cable rework is significantly reduced.
We can also use nomex and DR25 sleeving on our ruggedised cables and wiring looms enabling the cable assemblies to be used in extreme temperatures and workshop environments where chemicals are present and where rough handling by operators is routine.
