Test engineering solutions tailored to the energy sector
Amfax delivers test engineering solutions and systems to the energy and renewables industry sector. Energy producing technology has become more and more complex, as such the demand on systems to test this technology has also increased. The significant rise in new, evolving technology in the energy sector over the past decade has seen our customers demand rugged, reliable and cost effective solutions when testing wind turbines, tidal power, nuclear and solar energy producing equipment. We build our test systems, cable looms, test fixtures and software using industry standard, tried and tested technologies that enables us to support our solutions throughout your product life-cycle. We are specialists in designing and building test solutions that have "designed in" replaceable technology such as sacrificial wiring looms, modular instrumentation and test fixturing, providing you with well architected systems that will provide the fastest return on investment possible.
Amfax has delivered many test solutions in the energy and renewables sector

Asset monitoring remote application viewerOur client develops applications for asset monitoring, using unique methods of data processing to identify potential problems in motors, pumps and fans before they cause major issues. They had been working hard developing the software and hardware to make this project work, but needed help to broadcast this data across a network. Some of the technologies they were using were reasonably standard (SQL) and widely supported, however OPC has some well documented issues when trying to distribute onto remote networks.
Amfax has experience distributing systems for third party software developers, check out the case study category for a few examples. We were able to design and develop a system which allowed our customer to concentrate on their application and leave the design of a networked "viewer" application to us. We broke out the data from OPC and SQL into a server side application. Due to the extreme potential size of the data domain, it was not possible to read and broadcast all of the data all of the time. We developed a neat solution using our own plugin server module which allowed us to control the extra server load, and limit network traffic to a reasonable level. The client side of this application was built to the customer's specification, where the scope and functionality were well defined. |
